Public input is essential to the success of ATL Zoning 2.0. We’ll be working closely with Atlanta’s residents, businesses, and property owners to explore, draft, test, and refine the new Zoning Ordinance and Official Zoning Map well before the official adoption process begins.
The process includes multiple rounds of public meetings and workshops, not including the official adoption process. These will include:

Feedback and Refinement
Meetings and workshops will rotate through the four quadrants of the city and each, circumstances permitting, will feature the option of either in-person or online participation. All meeting details, materials and surveys will be posted here below as they’re planned and completed.
Non-traditional techniques such as festival booths, pop-up exercises, and intercept surveys will further expand community input opportunities.
Once official adoption begins, the public will have additional opportunity to review and comment on the drafts through the City’s official public hearing process.

Module II Q&A Session
Description:
Join virtually on January 13th to have your questions answered on Module II. Development Standards will review zoning standard with citywide application, including methods of measurement, parking and loading standards, sign standards, streetscapes standards, and more.
On May 20th, the Department of City Planning released the new ATL 2.0 Zoning Ordinance Module I “Discussion Draft” for public review. This module includes draft standards for Form & Frontage Districts and Use Districts. Dig into the draft, then join us for this meeting dedicated solely to answering your questions.
We’re rolling out our new ATL 2.0 Zoning Ordinance “Discussion Draft” as a series of modules over the course of 2024.
This meeting will introduce the first of these modules which addresses form, frontage, and use regulations.
The ATL Zoning 2.0 process has been guided by the Atlanta Zoning Ordinance Rewrite Diagnostic Report, public comments received in the 2022 and 2023 Idea Labs and Focused Workshops, and other City initiatives.
The work has also been coordinated with the City’s ongoing Comprehensive Development Plan update, which you can learn more about at atlantaforall.com.
Focused Workshop #4: Conservation Area Alternatives
Description:
Refine the preferred citywide alternatives into specific alternatives for Conservation Areas. Conservation Area-specific standards not previously reviewed will also be discussed.
Specific alternatives for Growth Areas to refine the citywide alternatives and how they might apply to such areas. Growth Area-specific standards not previously reviewed will also be discussed.
The featured presentation will begin at 6:30 p.m. Staff will be onsite at 6:00 p.m. inside of the Buckhead Library for a Project Open House. Capacity is limited inside of the Buckhead Library in Northeast Atlanta, please consider joining online. This is a Citywide conversation, and all Atlanta stakeholders are encouraged to participate.
Project updates and a review of potential citywide standards identified in the Zoning Ordinance Diagnostic. Topics will include the overall approach to the new code, ways to reflect neighborhood, housing, and more.

Description:
The Atlanta Zoning Ordinance Rewrite’s public process starts with Idea Labs. Idea Labs are opportunities for planning and zoning experts to share ideas that might be appropriate to incorporate into the new Zoning Ordinance. Ideas presented are all subject to refinement as the new Zoning Ordinance is discussed and vetted through the public process. This Idea Lab will examine how zoning can be tailored to Atlanta’s unique neighborhoods and make better use of space within them.

This Idea Lab will explore how COVID-19 has changed cities and how they can be more environmentally, socially, and economically sustainable.
